I learnt how to do it from a small book, years ago, but have since forgotten.
I can still do two thirds of a cube, I think(edit: yes I can still do that), but not the last layer.
The process I learned, was following simple routines for the different stages. The last stage, involved recognising the patterns on the bottom, and then correctly orienting the cube and following a series of moves.
If I had that old book, I might learn it again, but I don't want to learn a different method..I'm not that bothered.
