Black Lives Matter protesters shut down Sanders event in Seattle

I do not see what those protesters want to achieve.

It is my personal opinion that black lives do matter and what is happening to people of colour in the US nowadays is a disgraceful shame, but targeting - of all candidates - Bernie Sanders does not seem very helpful to the cause to me.

Best regards,
Andy

I was reading about this the other day, and I'm convinced these people are actually paid shills sent to disrupt and shut down Bernie's campaign and prevent him from speaking and getting his messages out, and it seems to be working. He left before giving his speech, which he shouldn't have done. Some people say this is Hillary's doing. Maybe. Or perhaps the Republicans sent them. The Republicans have a long history of political dirty tricks. Either way, why would they troll Bernie Sanders, the one candidate who would actually listen sympathetically to black people and make life better for them, and not the other candidates?

My money - if they are not, as you suspect, paid shills - is on that they would hope that they would be treated less severely on Bernie Sanders' speeches than at those of Republican candidates. And everything for cheap publicity :(

That was my first thought.

I read about the event in Arizona where the same thing happened. Why are they targeting Sanders in particular?

Who are these Black Lives Matter people? Who funds them?

O'Reilly on Fox News did an interview with Kelly Riddell, an investigative reporter for the Washington Times, and NewsBusters has a transcript:
RIDDELL: Well, I mean you've got to look, Black Lives Matter is really an umbrella slogan kind of group that encompasses a lot of social justice workers and a lot of social justice organizations. And it's a group that was started by three women that work at Soros-backed organizations that are into community organizing, into kind of riling up activists.

And what all of the social justice groups have in common is basically three things. [...]

And then lastly, they are all, all of these organizations from a certain standpoint are funded by George Soros's Open Society Foundation. We're talking about hundreds of thousands of dollars a year. I found that within one year, George Soros dedicated $33 million to these types of organizations. So there really well-funded.

And as you know, George Soros is best-buddy with the Clintons. Another piece on the same site on this topic:
MSM Fails to Note that #SorosMoneyMatters Only Targeting Hillary Opponents

(Note: NewsBusters appears to be a rather right-wing site, apparently affiliated with the so-called Media Research Center.)

But Bernie said they could have the chance to speak after he was done, and they refused that opportunity. They just continued to act belligerently, and perhaps that's why Bernie left when he did. I think he should have done something different rather than let them control the situation, like tell them to wait and they'd get their chance, and if they didn't want to wait, ask people in the crowd to escort them out.

They were there to make trouble for Bernie, and whether someone paid them to do it or not, they succeeded.

Bernie let them have 5 minutes of silence for the victims, but after that, they refused to give the microphone, so he left.

He did speak later that night at an event and seemed unfazed, according to reports.

Hmm, white supremacist liberalism... Nice way to alienate what are potentially the only allies they have

So you should let yor allies be rude and inconsiderate toward you and treat you like a doormat?
What? The so-called allies should shut up.

Perhaps Martin Luther King can better explain it:
Martin Luther King said:
I must confess that over the last few years I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro’s great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen’s Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to ‘order’ than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says ‘I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I can’t agree with your methods of direct action;’ who paternalistically feels he can set the timetable for another man’s freedom; who lives by the myth of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait until a ‘more convenient season.’ Shallow understanding from people of goodwill is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will. Lukewarm acceptance is much more bewildering than outright rejection.

In the US, white progressives are worse to blacks than the KKK, apparently? I'm trying to wrap my head around this.

No, it's like I said above, it's similar to the vegan police attitude of "you are not good enough/not doing enough/are not worthy, or "how dare you be put off that I'm interrupting you", etc."

and if BLM turns out to be shill group, well..that should be interesting.

Here's a "herstory" of the #BlackLivesMatter movement, written by one of the founders:
I created #BlackLivesMatter with Patrisse Cullors and Opal Tometi, two of my sisters, as a call to action for Black people after 17-year-old Trayvon Martin was post-humously placed on trial for his own murder and the killer, George Zimmerman, was not held accountable for the crime he committed. It was a response to the anti-Black racism that permeates our society and also, unfortunately, our movements.

This idea that members of the #BlackLivesMatter movement are paid shills is complete and utter nonsense.

well organisations/causes have been known to have been hijacked I think.
Not that I can think of any myself...
