Yes, if you're out during most of the day. I want to place an order for some Gower cottage brownies and the courrier delivers between 9 to 5 which isn't convenient for the recipient.
I also often use the click and collect service and have my parcels delivered to a shop.

I know that they are usually left by the door, in the US as I get things delivered to my cousin's house. In the UK, the postman will usually leave them at a neighbours if you leave a note.
Over here, you have to go and collect it the following day at the post office as they cannot be left outside of a home as the parcel would get stolen.
