That is crazy. There ought to be a more straightforward way for someone to get proper ID.

I do think ID should be required when voting, though.
 
If you are registered and your name is on the voter registration list at the poll and you can provide your complete address, that should be enough. Voting is a right, not a privilege, and making it harder for the elderly and poor to vote is very unfair. The amount of voter fraud in the US is practically nonexistent so making it harder to vote is simply not warranted.
 
While voter fraud is minimal, it is not unreasonable to be able to prove who you are when asked. I''ve lived in areas that accepted a utility bill as proof of identity. Almost everyone has one of those.
 
They scanned my drivers license when I voted on Saturday. I thought it was kind of creepy, but didn't think about what if I didn't have a license. I'm not sure what my state's laws are, I know they ask for ID at the polls. It shouldn't be a requirement, that's unAmerican x10.
