we have had a lot of posts about plant milk makers. But as far as I can tell no one has posted anything about an ice cream maker.
Maybe that is because ice cream is not vegan. or that the market place for ice cream makers is huge - way bigger than the niche market of plant milk makers.

But when Fork Over Knives magazine publishes an article on an ice cream maker - I stop and read it.
I don't think I will get one - I already have a bunch of nifty kitchen gadgets. But I'll think about it.

That looks amazing but way way too expensive! I will just buy the Breyer's Oatmilk non-dairy ice cream or any of the other prepared choices.
my supermarket is very bad at stocking Bryers. I never got a chance to try their chocolate PB, and now it looks like it's been discontinued. when there is a sale I'll splurge on Ben and Jerry's. Otherwise it's Trader Joes. Which only has a chocolate with coconut milk and vanilla with oat milk. I also like their bon bons as a special treat. they also have some mini cones . I think those only come in chocolate.

For economy noting beats blending a frozen banana. I have so many frozen bananas in my freezer. I could do that every day.

I never see non dairy ice cream I like in stores. I liked TJ's old chocolat cherry soy creamy--they have nothing for me now. I only find flavors I don't want. I dislike Breyers almond--weirdly too sweet.
I'm so fortunate to have a frozen custard place with great non dairy custards, but rarely go :dismay:
I'm so craving ice cream now :weird:

Aldis almond milk coffee was good but I think they stopped it

I liked TJ's old chocolat cherry soy creamy--
I liked that too. the chocolate with coconut milk works well, you can still taste the cocounut but it works well with chocolate. The vanilla bean oat milk works too - the vanilla flavor is great.

My supermarket has a good selection.
So Delicious comes in a lot of bases: almond, oat, and cashew. I like the cashew best.
As I mentioned above they don't do a good job stocking Bryeres. But they are the most economical and I wish I could try some of the different flavors.
I have yet to find a Ben and Jerry's flavor I don't like.

We have a gas station/car wash/ vegan market. they have an Oatley soft serve machine and you get a free cone with a car wash.

One time I got some vanilla - I can't remember the brand - but it was very chalky. I put it in the blender with a few Oreos.

Sometimes I take chocolate ice cream, and some plant milk, a frozen banana and peanut butter powder. Not ice cream but it hits the spot.

That's the flavor I want-- but sunflower milk? Everything I've dubbed those seeds for cashews I didn't like, too savory. But that's my flavor
I'd also like a good caramel swirl, no Chunky stuff, no coconut. No weird sweet taste, just sugar

Those kinds of particular preference is probably the biggest selling point for these ice cream makers.
 
Here in the UK we can get hold of the Swedish Glace PB ice creams. The vanilla is delish and they do a raspberry ripple one which is even more delish :)

I make a vegan ice cream with frozen bananas, nut butter and maple syrup. It's so delicious. Even my non-veggie friends and family love it. We drizzle it with a bit a maple syrup or vegan chocolate sauce. It's good with vegan whipped cream, too.

Sure thing, it's by Dreena Burton (though I can't find it on her website anymore). The ingredients are 3 overripe bananas (I slice them up first before I freeze them), 1/2 cup of nut butter of choice, 1/4 to 1/3 cup of maple syrup, and a pinch of salt.

In a food processor, add banana slices and pulse until chunky but not all the way smooth. Then add the rest of the ingredients and process until smooth and creamy. If you eat it right out of the processor, it's like a Wendy's frosty. But I like to freeze mine and then have it after a few hours. It freezes pretty solid, so you might have to let it sit out for 5 or 10 minutes.

Soy milk ice cream is still my favorite but I haven't seen it in ages.

Coconut is my least favorite but I'll eat it. The coconut milk ice cream sandwiches are decent at 100 calories per serving.

I've yet to try the recipe using condensed milk. I have two cans of non dairy in my pantry. I keep hesitating because it sounds deadly health wise. But it's a simple mix and freeze with no need for an ice cream maker and it looks like it's a nice soft and creamy consistency. I will definitely do it one day.

These look so good. I'm going to try it with the coconut condensed milk and a container of So Delicious Cocowhip. A plain vanilla to which I'll add fresh pineapple or cantaloupe is sounding really appealing to me right now.

Sorry if I invaded your thread with junk ice cream, lol @Lou . The link looks really cool. I'd definitely want the ninja if I was in the market. I've been looking at basic machines on amazon. My friend has one that makes a small amount and it works well. Not sure how it would do with non dairy milk.
 
I absolutely LOVE ice cream and can eat it every day. Sometimes I do lol. And I still managed to lose weight. Imagine that. I eat half of the recommended serving. So a paltry 51 grams which amounts to about four mouthfuls. But it works!

There has been a lot of talk about how we need to avoid ultra processed foods. And I'm pretty sure store bought ice cream falls into the category. So that is another plus in the Pro Column for an ice cream maker. Although most. plant milks are considered ultra processed too.
