Thoughts on impossible burger and their testing on 188 rats?

It is easy to link veganism to whatever you want ;) ... seen it numerous times linked with feminism for example, and often times with the left wing politics. A famous tyrant from Germany was vegetarian... But artificially linking veganism to other ideologies, only reduces the potential number...

Thoughts on impossible burger and their testing on 188 rats?

If that is factually accurate, then I agree. I was thinking that there are things that we cannot test without animals, and going direct to human testing would be very risky.

Im fat, vegan, and i hate beans!

Without exercise, you will not lose weight in a sustainable manner. It is not to do with calories in, calories out ... but with regulating the way your hormones work. I like cycling up hills, but recently I got into swimming. Small and consistent effort is better than long and rare effort.

Thoughts on impossible burger and their testing on 188 rats?

I would be worried if animals had to die in testing a food product ... like what ... was it toxic to start with, and rats died, and through further iterations it became less toxic ? Yuck ! In my opinion, there are instances where it might make sense to test on animals, like when testing a new...

    New expanded definition of veganism

I like to be even more accurate than 'it is wrong to eat meat for ethical reasons' ... conceptually, I'm not against meat, I am against the way it is being farmed in the modern world. So I can agree that modern agriculture is not ethical, there should not exist an animal agriculture industry, at...

    New expanded definition of veganism

Lou, I call myself different things for practical reasons: in an Indian restaurant I call myself 'strict vegetarian' because that means vegan in India. In a British restaurant, I would ask for the 'vegan menu'. I intentionally use vegan labeled products as much as possible.

    New expanded definition of veganism

For many, including myself, it is more of a health choice rather than out of concern for animals or environment. I am not suggesting here that the fate of the animals or the environment are not of concern, only that they are not a driver for me. Before you shout foul, the outcome is the same...

How long does it take to rebuild your metabolism?

I would expect weight watcher to deny metabolism damage (or slow down, call it however), since their whole business is based on calorie restriction via the point system. The only proper study done on the effects of starvation (mind you starvation in that experiment was around 1600 cals / day)...

How long does it take to rebuild your metabolism?

You know ... I did the same years back. Lost weight by starving myself, metabolism slowed down. The body is like 'I do not know when the next meal is, so I will hold on to what I have'. Unfortunately for you, in order to repair that, you will need to eat normally, and you will have to accept...

Hello from a veggie burger bicycle vendor in thailand.

Well done mate, welcome. *minutes later* I saw the pics on facebook, really great work combining making a living, raising your son, spreading the vegan wellbeing, cycling.

    New and inquisitive.

I agree with most of the posts above, except "sugar is bad". Fruits are providing simple sugars, starches are providing complex sugars that eventually get turned into simple sugars. Sugar is the fuel for life really, and by itself does not make you fat. Cookies which are full of fat and...

50 days in, light headed, not enough calories, help!

If you are on a budget forget the fruits ... rice, potatoes, breakfast cereals (including corn flakes) are some of the cheapest foods you can buy. You can add sugar to breakfast cereals to increase the calorie count.

50 days in, light headed, not enough calories, help!

Pharaoh, Your breakfast could be 10 bananas in a blender, mixed with 200-300g of organic sugar (1500 cals sorted). You can use dates blended with bananas for high cal smoothie. Lunch could be some pasta with low fat sauce ... dinner could be curry with a lot of rice (I use two bowls of rice...

    New vegan - fatigue

Pumpkin I strongly disagree about not getting enough protein. You might not get enough carbs, but protein is not an issue even if you only eat fruits (lowest fat and protein contents).

    Difficult making friends.

Hi Mathias, Welcome and congratulations on your weight loss success. Through embracing plant based eating, I lost a lot of weight as well. Feels great to be able to run and cycle

Do you think its a bit stupid to not eat meat if its lab grown?

Yes, they are. What you write goes against hundreds of peer-reviewed legit studies. The lower you can keep the fat intake, the healthier you will be. Whole foods, plant based, low fat is healthiest (i.e. a diet consisting mainly of fatty avocados is not exactly healthy ... certainly healthier...

Thier reaction to your veganism and how you respond

I try to lead by example by running 10k daily, waking up early, having an abundance of energy and positive mood. So I don't really get push back ... nobody can argue with results, and I find that people are more receptive seeing the results of a vegan lifestyle, than hearing the preaching. I...

Cooking animal products for my non-vegan loved ones?

Hi Julie, I really get the need to do nice things for the loved ones, things that they enjoy. Just make tasty vegan foods and see where it leads you. You are a recent vegan, but after a few more months, you are naturally going to stop wanting to prepare meat, so best start getting your...
