Local SPCA fundraiser BBQ to serve only vegan foods

This just popped up on my FB feed. This is happening about an hour and 45 minutes from my city in a couple of weeks and I'm considering driving over for this. Some veg*ns have pressured (in some cases for years) for this event to only serve vegan foods and they've now agreed! So cool!

    Foolproof Seitan recipes/Tips/Techniques

I used to make seitan, but seeing Gardein and other tasty alternatives in stores made me stop making it altogether. I have a full bag of vital wheat gluten, and since I am still looking for a job, I would like to save money by starting to make my own again. So, like the title says, what are...

    Crochet

There already is a knitting thread, and I do know how to knit somewhat, but my true yarn love is with the crochet hook. I started to learn almost a year ago and crocheted constantly until the summer. By then, it was way too hot, in my opinion to keep doing it, so a lot of my projects got put...

Microsoft offers users $100 credit on a new PC to switch from XP

For those still stuck in the past. :p Although it would be nice if they gave the option to upgrade to Win7 instead, because I feel that the transition from XP to Win8 is too great. I have Win8 right now and I would prefer to go back to Win7 myself...

Obviously, I need to get on the bandwagon on this. (Is there still a kale chip bandwagon? I don't know) Anyway, I just bought some kale and now I need your tried and true recipes. Preferably vegan. Thanks in advance!

Think Yelp Is Unbiased? Think Again!!

http://www.forbes.com/sites/jimhandy/2012/08/16/think-yelp-is-unbiased-think-again/ Very interesting, and I can't say I'm too surprised. I have read something like this not long ago (although I can't remember the source), and I haven't trusted an online review since. I'll post the link if I...

I want to learn how to sew...

...using a sewing machine and some hand sewing too I suppose. My mother has a nice machine that she doesn't use much for the moment and she is willing to loan it to me for a while (probably several months) so I can teach myself to sew. I have this wild image that I can do all kinds of...

Literature What did you read as a child/teen?

As I indicated in the Harry Potter thread, I grew up reading Archie comics (which I taught myself to read English with before we had English classes in 3rd grade, since I went to a Francophone school), and Sweet Valley High books when I was a little bit older. I had quite a collection of both...

    Nutrition & Diet Liquid diet?

Not sure whether I should have posted this in here or in health issues, but anyway... Some of you may already know about my abscess problem right now. There is some considerable pain, and I'm managing it as well as I can with some meds. An (almost) bigger problem is that I can barely eat...

    Watcha drinkin'?

Coffee. I normally drink it black, no sugar, but I've recently started to sometimes put a bit of soy milk in it.
