Can anxiety throughout the day cause sleep-maintenance insomnia as well, or just anxiety as you are trying to get to sleep?

I always thought that my sleep-maintenance problems were not attributable to anxiety (but were rather something physiological/nutritional/etc.) because I am always able to make sure that I am not worrying about anything right as I was going to sleep. However, I am a very anxious person (I...

My experience with zinc deficiency after going vegan (infections, acne, hair loss + more) and correcting it.

Thanks so much for all your help. I've been reading your blog posts and the journal articles you have provided links to in your posts, and am considering trying some zinc and magnesium supplements. Do you know anything about blood tests for zinc and magnesium? I think I will be able to get a...

My experience with zinc deficiency after going vegan (infections, acne, hair loss + more) and correcting it.

It's interesting that you say this, because I've developed a problem in the last few years where I am getting acne or folliculitis (a dermatologist said it was folliculitis and and a GP said it was acne) over multiple parts of my body. It started on my upper thighs on the front, then progressed...

Sleep-maintenance problems almost every night for five years

I've had ongoing sleep maintenance problems for five years where I repeatedly wake up throughout the night, around 10 - 20 times. Usually I can get back to sleep as soon as I wake up, but the more times I wake up throughout the night the harder it is to go back to sleep, and I end up not getting...

    Why do have hyponatremia?

I find it amazing that you say this because I had the exact same problem (see my previous posts). It took me about 3 years to figure out, and my symptoms were at their worst last year just before I figured out the problem (diarrhea immediately after or during each meal; lethargy after each meal...

Can't tell whether i have sunburn or dermatitis

I usually don't wear sunscreen because it almost always gives me dermatitis on my face, and so when I go outside I cover my face with a mask and wear a hat. However, I found a sunscreen that wasn't causing any type of reaction so I was going out just with sunscreen on my face (and sunglasses so...

I don't understand how electrolyte tablets are useful when they contain such low electrolytes

Because I'm aware that you lose electrolytes when you sweat. Also, I think I get hyponatremia easily. I had a problem for a while where I kept getting diarrhea in the middle of eating, or immediately after eating, having lethargy, excessive thirst and excessive urination, and all of these...

I don't understand how electrolyte tablets are useful when they contain such low electrolytes

Hi. I've been looking up electrolyte tablets so that I can keep my electrolyte levels stable throughout the day (as I sweat a lot when I move around all day - I don't know why) and also for when I play tennis. However, almost every pack of electrolyte tablets (that from what I can understand are...

High blood pressure on low salt diet

How do you sleep? I understand that can affect blood pressure.

Just had a coke with my meal for the first time in 3 years and it made my meal taste awful

Yeah, I should have got a ginger beer. I don't know if the sugar in the ginger beer would have ruined the meal as well though, or whether it was just something else in the coke that did it.

Just had a coke with my meal for the first time in 3 years and it made my meal taste awful

Hi. I felt like having a fizzy, sugary drink so thought I would buy a coke and try it with my meal for the first time in three years to see what would happen and while it was nice it made my sushi (which I usually really like) taste sticky and tasteless. I'm not doing that again. I've been...

High blood pressure on low salt diet

I cut out all that extra salt I was eating and the only salt I get now is just some soy sauce on my sushi or around 12 olives with my meals and after just two days of that my blood pressure dropped down to 123/65 when I had it measured this morning.

Lost 3 cms in height over last year

I'm getting a Vitamin D test and a bone density test. Apparently a Vitamin D deficiency can cause osteoporosis which can cause height loss. I'll wear more shorts and t-shirts when I go outside and just cover my face. I've always been reluctant to leave my skin exposed on other parts of my body...

Lost 3 cms in height over last year

Lol, if I knew the answer to that question I probably wouldn't have any sleeping problems anymore. I've had sleep-maintenance insomnia for almost 5 years now where I have very interrupted sleep. I just had a sleep study done to rule out if it's due to periodic limb movements or sleep apnea.

Lost 3 cms in height over last year

Could it be because of sleep deprivation? You get taller in your sleep and then lose it over the course of the day, right? If I'm only getting around 4 hours of uninterrupted sleep (when I usually need 10), could that be causing the problem?

Lost 3 cms in height over last year

    27. From what I've read in the research though, people typically start losing height at a much higher age than mine. Also, a 3 cm loss in one year seems quite extreme. And yes, I'll go to the doctor to get it checked.

Lost 3 cms in height over last year

I'm sure I remember that I was always 182 cms without shoes on, but around a month ago I was shocked to see that I am now only 179 cm. I've read that this is possible with a Vitamin D deficiency. I tend to avoid the sun as much as possible (because I can't wear sunscreen on my face) and have...

High blood pressure on low salt diet

Hi everyone. I realized not long ago that hyponatremia may have been causing many of my problems, and have since started adding salt to my meals again. However, what I find strange is that when I was putting no salt on my meals, my blood pressure was 140/78. Then, when I started increasing my...

Why does salt make me feel full?

Yes, I have actually been sweating a huge amount (I think because of chronic insomnia - I think I feel a lot hotter all the time when I don't sleep well) and I was constantly thirsty all the time and would drink a huge amount of water throughout the day. Since adding the salt it feels like I...

Why does salt make me feel full?

Does anyone know why adding salt to my meals makes me feel progressively fuller and make me stop eating at an earlier point? When I don't put any salt in my meals it seems like I never stop eating because I never feel satisfied and full. I just find it strange because I'm aware that the...
