  • Do you have experience with fixing broken Commodore 64s, by any chance? Or broken joysticks? I have one broken C64 and one joystick that no will longer register the 'down' movement. I bought a new joystick, but it doesn't seem to work at all!

    Sounds like the CIA (complex interface adapters) chips in your C64 may be defective. This is common and there are no replacement chips being made, so replacement ones second hand are getting rare.

    I'm not quite sure what is wrong with my C64 - it won't turn on - but fortunately I have a second one! :) I now have a USB joystick ("TheC64") and have managed to compile VICE 3.4 and make the joystick work with that. Perfect! But have also been using my other real C64 again recently.
